Once upon a time Bontrager was associated with hardcore steel MTB frames that aimed for perfection by execution rather than good looks and visual design.
This hardcore mindset was applied to components with the aim of producing longer lasting, safer and better components than anybody else.
Critics may claim Bontrager products where also the most boring looking products, but then again, having your components in eight different anodized colors have never won a race (or have them?).
While I do not know just how hardcore this Bontrager seatpost is, it bears the Bontrager logo so it should mean that its ancestors have been stress tested to the maximum in a stress testing machine in order to be super strong and worthy of the Bontrager name.
Or we could be really cynical here and asume Mr Trek went to Taiwan looking for a nice seatpost, while at Taiwan Mr Trek asked the shop officer if they could silkscreen the Bontrager logo on the post.
IMHO it is a rather boring seatpost, but then again, how exciting could a seatpost be anyway?
In 31.6 mm and over 30 cm long, this used, but still in good condition 98-99 Bontrager comp seatpost is yours ,should you want it, for only 18 euro.
