This is the rare carbon fiber brake booster manufactured by Shimano around the new millennium.
V-brakes where a bit more powerful than classic cantilever brakes so brake performance could be increased if the chainstays where stiffer, by mounting a brake booster you essentially stiffen up the upper chainstays sideways so that they do not spread out when applying brakes hard.
On the backside there is a small sticker under the clear coat with the text “SM-V950 Shimano Korea”.
On the front there are some graphics which says “V Carbon brake booster” and dual Shimano logos which are applied under the clearcoat or molded on the top layer of the carbon fiber.
This brake booster is very stiff (and light) and was a good compliment to the powerfull V-brakes which could flex chainstays easily.
I am missing the original bolts, they should be a bit longer than typical V brake bolts. I think they also came with some small washers which could be replaced by normal washers from any hardware store.
Nice condition, what you see on the picture is what I got.
