Shimano PD-M735 mountain bike pedals

Shimano killed the conventional clipless pedal when they released clipless pedals for the MTB in the SPD system. But even after SPD system where released they quietly released these Shimano Deore XT PD-M735 platform pedals.

Clipless pedals ala SPD might be scary, but they actually improve your pedalling efficiency, ironically they might also be a bit more secure since you do not bounce around on the pedals. You are supposed to tighten down the strap on the clip on a platform pedal, I have never seen anyone do that besides racers from way back in 1991.

But as always, it is not about the product, it is about where you ride, what you prefer and how you ride.

Even after all these years of SPD dominance there are quite a few riders who prefer conventional platform pedals over SPD and  oversize DH/Street pedals weighting 650 gram.

These Deore XT PD-M735 pedals are very used as you can see, they are even missing some nobs attached to the body of the pedals, yes they have been abused (and I bet the mountain bike rider who used these had a blast). IMHO they are a fine testament to the timeless beauty of classic Shimano pedals. They have been abused to the point you would think they are worth next to nothing, but they are not.

They are worth 20 euro but it is up to you to decide if you want to ride them on your bike (ie not mount them on one of your five garage queen Kleins which you never ride anyways and is too big for you anyway) or hang them on the wall as a symbol of how powerfull pedal engineers of Shimano are when they created the Shimano Deore XT pedal.

Yes I know this text is just a bunch of junk to lure search engines to spider my page lol

So can I buy the PD-M735 pedals here? I am looking all over for them. I have them on my brand new Giant-women’s specific and would like to buy a set for my Trek, don’t know where to go to get these classic platform pedals-I hate clips. The pair next to the pink teddy bear look great!

    thank you,
