Shimano SL-M732 Deore XT 7-speed thumbshifter

Shimano SL-M732 Deore XT 7-speed thumbshifter

These days there are quite a lot of freak mobiles around – and people seem proud to ride them. Back in the day, the thought of running a 29 inch front and 26 rear wheels was unthinkable, maybe a 26 front and 24 rears but nobody continued doing that.

There are some rumours that there were a couple of singlespeeders around in the 80’ies but off-roading singlespeed style was unthinkable in the world of MTB when thumbshifters where standard.

It seems the more dorkier the better these days so I am sure someone will find a use for this single rear Shimano Deore XT thumbshifter. Yes it has that important friction mode so you could probably hook it up to your suspension lock out, telescopic seatpost, front derailleur (remember there are quite a lot of freaks around these days someone ought to want to shift the front mech with their right thumb).

Or maybe you lost your left arm in an accident and do not want to put more stress on the eco-system by purchasing something you do not need?

This is the perfect opportunity to purchase a cool looking Shimano Deore XT SL-M732 right thumbshifter for only 9 euro. Wow what a deal…

Hey, I’m still riding the GT Avalanche I built in the 90s 🙂 With DX thumbshifters, XT front mech, XTR rear, XTR hubs… Given I’m just cruising while my boys get bigger and faster, it will be a while before I upgrade to something made in the last ten years! 21 speed is just fine – and it’s been pretty much unbreakable (famous last words, hope I don’t jinx myself).

IMHO, there is nothing wrong with 7-speed or thumbshifters, maybe racers have another opinion though 🙂
