The thumbshifters of the Suntour XC-Comp and XC-Pro component lines where highly regarded as good and solid shifting devices (unlike the horrible X-press under the bar system).
And they where actually lighter than comparable thumbshifters from Shimano.
The subject of thumbshifters as the superior shifter have often been discussed, and yes, even here can we find the much needed “friction mode” which can be good to have if your rear derailleur hanger gets bent out in the woods.
And did we mention the Suntour XC-Comp thumbshifters where light?
Not until second generation GripShift where to be released would a light weight shifter be released again, but then again, GripShift was not a thumbshifter (so the world lost again).
Used, with a few scratches, these nice looking 7-speed Suntour XC-Comp thumbshifters are yours for 20 euro. Sold!
